Who is Axeleo Capital ? What is your positioning ?



Axeleo Capital is an entrepreneurial VC adventure launched by Eric Burdier and Mathieu Viallard. We run an early-stage VC platform strategy with thematic funds, hands-on LPs, strong expertises on each fund, a unique DNA, grit and passion.

We started our project with B2B software focused funds (Axeleo Capital 1 in 2017, followed by a 1st successor funds AXC2), a new thematic launched in 2020 to address Proptech & Contech seed European startups and in 2023 a brand new project with a fund dedicated to Greentech Industry Startups.

With Axeleo Capital, we target to manage €450m AUM from 2025.

Which stage do you invest at? What’s the typical investment ticket size that you first put?



We usually invest in early-stage companies withticket ranges froma few hundreds €k to €1.5m on our B2B tech & Proptech funds on pre-seed & seed rounds and from €5m to €10m on our Greentech Industry funds on seed & series A rounds.

For us Seed is not a hobby or among a broader early-stage strategy, it’s our speciality from day one.

We keep ⅔ of our funds to follow-on on the best portfolio startups on series A/B

What’s the difference between Axeleo and Axeleo Capital?



‍Axeleo Capital (AXC) is fully independent and employee owned.

Axeleo Capital is an Emerging European Seed VC founded in January 2017 by Eric Burdier & Mathieu Viallard and a large pool of experienced tech entrepreneurs. Our management company was born from a carve-out of Axeleo, this B2B Tech startup accelerator launched in Lyon (France) in 2013 co-founded by Eric and backed by the French Tech Acceleration Fund.

Axeleo (the former accelerator) switched to a startup studio in Q4 2021 dedicated to the cybersecurity industry. The program is called Cyber Booster.
‍
Our roots are in the VC industry (where Mathieu comes from), the startup acceleration market (where Eric comes from) and the Software market (where our LPs entrepreneurs come from).
By leveraging our common expertise, experience and network, it allows us to support our portfolio founders side-by-side every day from day 1 to growth stages.

Our motto relies on being more than just another VC and mostly being as helpful as possible from the very beginning.
